Kit List

Carrying the right kit is vital.  I still remember the first ever back packing trip I made when I was a student 34 years ago. We both filled a 60 litre sack each and struggled!  Now-a-days kit is lighter and more compact too. Here is our Kit List for the Lysefjord Trek.

Personal Kit

  • Rab Merino tops (one short-sleeved, one long)
  • Rab Microlight Jacket (Primaloft)
  • Lightweight shorts and trousers
  • Waterproofs
  • Underwear (I found some bamboo ones on ebay!)
  • Walking socks
  • Keen flip-flops
  • Meindl fabric walking boots
  • Basic Toiletries
  • Drinking cup
  • Spork
  • Sleeping bag and sheet sleeping bag
  • Thermarest
  • Water Bladder (didn’t need them – see below)
  • Drinking Cups (Norwegians have a special scoop-shaped cup called a tur kopp? – Ours were plastic not the traditional wood and came with a small carabiner to attach to your rucksack. Remember you can drink for any stream in Norway still – good clean and wholesome water)
