Pete Hawkins

Pete Hawkins, writer, photographer and walking guideHi and welcome to my web site.  I am a writer and walking guide who snaps away with the ‘box brownie’ when I can.  I combine my passion for the outdoors with a desire to help others get the most from the outdoors, whatever their sport.

For the past seven years I have run The Silva Navigation School which teaches navigation skills to outdoor enthusiasts like walkers, Trec horse riders, mountain bikers and fell runners.

I have written three books for the outdoor book publishers Cicerone and have contributed to  many outdoor magazines over the past twenty years.  My specialism is, perhaps unsurprisingly, navigation!

I also lead guided walking holidays around the world for Spencer Scott Travel.  For the past 20 years I have had the privilege to visit many stunning places around the world.  A selection of photographs can be found in the gallery.

When I am not outdoors I design web sites and am a director of Taste Tideswell, a bold community venture to promote my home village of Tideswell as a food destination.  I also edit the village newsletter The Village Voice.
